What is Gratos.app?
A French library of free, open source alternatives to paid software. For each tool: what it replaces, what it saves every month, a point by point comparison, an honest verdict, and the prompt that installs it with Claude, even from scratch.
Who is behind it
Loucash (0xLoucash on Instagram, TikTok and YouTube), a content creator on artificial intelligence and automation. He installs automations for businesses and trains freelancers on Claude. The tools in this library are the ones he uses himself or installs for his clients and students.
Why this site
Many subscriptions pay for software that has an open source equivalent, free and often better, but impossible to find when you do not know its name. Gratos.app makes the link: type the software you pay for, find what replaces it, and install it in one conversation with Claude.
How tools are chosen
A tool enters the library when it meets four conditions: it is truly open source (open licence, public code on GitHub), it is alive (recent releases, a community), it replaces a specific paid tool for a common need, and Loucash has installed and used it. Every card shows the health of the GitHub repository, updated automatically, and a score out of ten that its author stands behind.
How prices are checked
The price shown for each paid tool is the public entry price for one person, taken from the vendor’s website, in euros from France when the site offers it. The savings announced are those prices, not estimates. When a tool has a free tier, the card says so.
The installation prompt
Every card contains a prompt to paste into Claude (Code or Desktop). It starts from the tool’s official GitHub repository, asks the useful questions (where to host, which domain), installs, configures and has you check that it works. It is written for someone who has never installed anything.
How often
New cards arrive every week. The Tuesday newsletter sums them up: what they replace and what they save. The sitemap, the llms.txt feed and the Markdown pages follow every addition.
